I usually do not review food but sometimes when I come across food so good, I feel bad for not sharing 😁. This meal is probably one of the best I have had in Singapore Food courts. Though its a meal I am more likely to find in my friend's grandma house - generous, voluptuous pieces of handmade Yong Tau Fu (YTF) swimming in clear seasoned broth. The YTF were stuffed and made with various paste - fish, pork and prawns. The prawns paste was utterly sensational - crunchy chunky sweet prawns, never had something like this before.

The stall was manned by 4 very hardworking people. I watched each one in amazement, you could feel their passion in the task they do. The lady In grey diligently scraping meat paste into the hot stock. The other lady immersed in rolling and stuffing paste. The shorter older man scooping the assorted hot morsels into a bowl while the other lanky man busily portioned each bowl with rice noodles. As labouring as they were, I still get smiles and polite nods with my order.

As I sat there delighting in each piece of YTF, I marvel at the effort that goes into them, and wondered who these people are behind the stall. Are they family? Are they siblings or are they just friends. Whoever these angels are, at $5.50 each bowl (without noodles), I am thankful to them for affording me such a value for money bowl of tasty gems. Thank you @patchooi for the foodie reco and @kittykatrei for being my foodie in crime😋

I made a big pot of beef pho with lots of ginger and star anise (in the hopes that it might spur up the little munchkin) and loaded it with bean sprouts and bok choy, fresh ginger, cilantro and lime. Didn't help so far, I'm still waiting for birth to start but it was delicious.

Dinner tonight was coconut fish curry with tilapia, zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli, water chestnuts and some carrots. Added ginger, fish sauce and a little green curry paste for flavor.

Ramen is my go-to meal if I’m not feeling well but those noodles are so high in carbs. This is my version of ramen that satisfies the craving but uses sliced cabbage in the place of the noodles. .

Ingredients: 2 chicken breasts, salt, pepper, 1 tbsp unsalted butter , 2 tsp sesame oil, 2 tsp fresh minced ginger, 3 tsp fresh minced garlic, 3 tbsp gluten-free soy sauce, 2 tbsp rice vinegar, 4 cups chicken broth, 1/2 cup sliced shiitake mushrooms , 3-6 soft boiled eggs, 1/2 cup sliced scallions, 1 onion, sliced, 10 oz sliced green cabbage, optional: jalapeño slices or chopped scallions, for topping.

Preparation: 1. Eggs: Boil as many eggs as you’d like to desired temperature ahead of time. Refrigerate until serving. I used my Dash Go Rapid Egg Cooker that I posted earlier. 2. Chicken: Pound the chicken breasts so they’re about 3/4 inch thick. Season generously with salt and pepper. Heat up 1 tbsp of butter in an iron skillet on medium heat. Cook the chicken for about 8 minutes on each side or until cooked through. Let cool, slice into strips and set aside 3. Broth: Heat up the sesame oil in a large pot. Add the garlic and ginger, and cook for a few minutes until softened. Add the soy sauce and rice vinegar, and stir to combine. Add the sliced onions and cook for another 3 minutes. Add the stock, siracha, cover, and bring to boil. Remove the lid, and let simmer uncovered for 5 minutes, then add the mushrooms and green cabbage. Simmer gently for another 5 minutes. You want the cabbage to cook a little but you still want it to have some crunch so it doesn’t turn to mush. Add the sliced chicken. 4. Serving: Pour soup into a bowl. Peel an egg, slice in half, and add it to the bowl. Optional: top with slice jalapeños or scallions. I chose to only use scallions and it was delicious. Enjoy!

About the Japchae:

For the basic japchae recipe i use ➡ #mkjjapchae. •

I used 2oz cocktail breast, 3oz cabbage, 1oz mushrooms. My meal, including the smartcake, came to : 268cals, 5g net carbs, 19g fat, 19g protein. •

SmartCake: These are 38 calories each, 0 net carbs, 2.5g fat, 4g protien. So really, a pretty guilt free snack or treat.
Size - not quite as big as a regular cupcake, but definitely bigger than a mini cupcake. I'd say this is about 4-5 bites worth.

Texture - they do have a cakey texture, much like regular white flour cakes. Fluffy, moist, light, no grittiness."

House favorite!! Easy Asian pork chops with saucy stir fry 😋😋. The key to this dish is cooking the chops first, then using the SAME pan to cook the veggies in the leftover grease, meats bits and all.

This recipe makes 4 servings, macros will vary a bit depending on the size of your chops and the veggies you choose. This would be good work any stir-fry type veggie, I used cabbage and baby bok choy.

What you'll need :
4 pork chops, the kind with a decent amount of fat on them still.
3-4tbsp soy sauce
Powdered stevia
Garlic powder
1tbsp coconut oil
Salt
2tsp sesame oil
1/4 large cabbage, thinly sliced
1lb baby bok choy, rinsed

1. Trim the very bottoms off the bok choy. Then trim them in half. Put the leafy part in a small bowl, add the stalky bottoms in a bowl with the sliced cabbage.

2. In a large frying pan big enough to fit all of the chops, put in the coconut oil and heat on med-high to high.

3. While the pan is heating up, lay out at the chops close to each other and season with garlic powder in a quick, sweeping motion, back and forth. So they all get a nice sprinkling of garlic. Do the same with the stevia powder, but go easy. Then rub/massage in about 1.5tsp of soy sauce into each chop, top side only (the same side with the garlic and stevia).

4. Lay each chop SEASONED SIDE DOWN, and sear for a few minutes. flip and sear for 1 minute, turn down heat to medium and cover. Cook until the chops are done, then set them aside on a plate.

5. In the SAME pan, with all the pork grease, put in the cabbage and bok choy stalks and turn the heat up to high. Stir and cook veggies until al dente. Add in the leafy bok choy tops then sprinkle with a little garlic powder, add in 2-3tsp of soy sauce, and the sesame oil. Stir until leaves are wilted and serve. We also add hot chili oil to ours to make it spicy.

Ingredients for Dim Sum: 1 small head of cabbage, 1 pound of ground pork, 1 tbsp of grated ginger, 1 egg white, 1 1/2 tbsp toasted sesame oil, 2 tbsp gluten free soy sauce, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 2 tbsp chopped scallions, 2 tbsp chopped carrots, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper.

Ingredients for Dipping Sauce: 2 tbsp gluten free soy sauce, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tsp toasted sesame oil, 1 tsp grated ginger and 1 tsp siracha. .

Preparation: This might sound complicated but it really isn’t. Preheat your oven to 375. While that is heating up, cut the end off of the head of cabbage while also digging out some of the center. The best way is to take a knife and cut inwards, underneath the stem of the cabbage so you’re left with a hole in the top of the cabbage. Put the cabbage in a large pot and fill it with water until there’s about 1-2 inches of cabbage sticking out of the top of the water. Take the cabbage out and boil the water. Once the water is boiling, put the cabbage back in the water with the cut out stem side up. Let is boil for a few minutes and then take a pair of tongs and try to start to separate the leaves from the cabbage. As the cabbage boils, the leaves will be easier to gently pull off. Slowly pull off as many leaves as you can and place them in a bowl to dry off a little. The smaller, inner leaves work best for this recipe. Once you’ve gotten all the leaves you can, place them in a greased muffin tin so they form a cup for the pork mixture to go in. Mix all of the ingredients for the dim sum in a bowl. Form balls out of the meat mixture and place them inside the cabbage cups. Try to close the cabbage leaves that are sticking up over the top of the meat mixture. Cook in the oven for 30 minutes. While it’s cooking, mix together the dipping sauce. Once they’re done cooking, take it out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. You can easily lift the cabbage cups out, place in a bowl, pour the dipping sauce over the top and enjoy!
