PEOPLE OF DJD// There are many people that make up the community at the DJD Dance Centre. From administrative staff, company members, volunteers and beyond, these walls are pulsing with personality.
What brings you the greatest joy?
What brings me the greatest joy is helping others. I think that's why I went into the teaching profession. There is no better feeling than knowing I made someone feel a bit better, learn something new, or find confidence in themselves.
What is on your bookshelf?
I actually went to school for English Literature, so I have a very eclectic bookshelf with classics from 17th century literature, all the way to the Harry Potter series!
Who is your teaching inspiration?
I would say that I don't have one single teaching inspiration, but that each teacher I have got to learn from leaves a mark on my heart that inspires my teaching somehow. I have a lot of amazing colleagues who are so passionate about what they do, that they continue to inspire me as well!
How I made my first dollar?
It was actually a dance job when I was about eleven I would say? It was a fashion show for Polaris (the winter sporting company) and we had to perform dance numbers in snow suits!
Movie with the greatest ending?
Oh man, that's a tough one. Well this is a pretty sentimental answer, but I love the ending to "You've Got Mail," when Tom Hanks comes around the corner into the park to meet Meg Ryan. I cry in anticipation of that moment every time!
