The variations are endless, you just need the know-how and a good repertoire of exercises.
This metacon circuit is advanced:
Burpies are not for everyone and there is an explosive component to all exercises except the bike and the BLDL-Row complex which is highly technical anyways.
There are always alternatives. Here’s a regression if you’re unaccustomed to the more complex exercises:
Mountain climbers/BLDL/alternating reverse lunges with or without a DB shoulder press/bike/KB swing or med ball slams.
Why this over a nice 25 min session on the elliptical?
1. It’s functional! Trains you to move well in and out of the gym.
2. Strength is either maintained or improved (I almost always throw in a heavy lift of sorts in my own and my clients’ circuits).
3. Peripheral Heart Action (PHA): fancy term for shunting blood all over the body-strengthens the heart and burns a ton of calories during AND after.
4. Time flies and it can actually be...fun! Lots of grunting, sweating, cussing, moving....in the end....loving the feeling and the results!
