This past weekend, I finally had the chance to witness the Northern Lights firsthand. Sitting on the bank of the river enjoying the reprieve from the black flies, we noticed faint flashes of light in the sky. The flashes intensified slightly, occasionally forming the iconic celestial bands through the sky. Mostly colorless to the naked eye, the splendour of the aurora that night was only fully evident through the lens of a camera, which brought out the colours and shapes that our eyes couldn't perceive.
We sat and stared in awe of the phenomenon. Even this relatively faint echo of them was breathtaking.
