Hey look, it's a picture with me in it! 🤗😮😬👏🏻 I rarely get in front of the camera because, honestly, I hate being in photos. I'm the most awkward model ever...I don't know how to pose, I don't know how to smile, and my hair frizz is rarely under control.
Just like me, my grandmother never liked having her picture taken. On Saturday, she passed away at the age of 99. And now I'm realizing how very few photos we have of her, even though she was alive for nearly a century. I wish we had more.
Which brings me to my PSA: don't let your insecurities keep you from being in photos! The way your face looks in your photos may not always make you happy, but one day it will make someone you love happy to see your face in photos.
This reminder is as much for me as it is for anyone who managed to read this far, because it takes real effort for me to put aside my own insecurities and get in front of the camera. And even more effort for me to post a photo of myself on social media. I only had the nerve to post this one because the inkwell filter is so flattering. 😳😂 But I know my kids think I'm beautiful and I know my grandmother thought I was beautiful, so I try to remember that's what matters - how you look to the people you love. Because love is the greatest filter. #loveisbeautiful
