Back to work after a great weekend in Lotus Cup UK.
For Round 1 we had Mike Dean over from Lotus Cup USA who had never raced in the UK before. Friday started with a power test at Lotus Cup UK HQ after which we shot over to Snetterton. Mike got himself settled in the car and completed a trouble-free day of running, getting more and more confident after each run.
On Saturday, the temperature had dropped 10+ degrees and it was snowing! Not ideal conditions for a Californian!
Qualifying in the snowy conditions and on wet tyres saw Mike end up a creditable 16th in Elise Trophy out of 24 runners.
Race 1, Mike had a great battle with #88 Ade Wooton throughout the race. Ade had a little more pace than Mike but a few half spins and Mike prevailed.
Race 2, Amazingly the circuit had dried enough to allow dry tyres. But with snow continuing to fall, a cautious approach was required. Mike entered into a race-long battle with a number of cars, constantly changing conditions as passes were made and the slippy conditions brought out small errors from each driver. Mike ended the race a very well deserved 12th in Elise Trophy out of 24 cars. A very good result considering he'd never driven in the snow before!
For race 3, with conditions not letting up and some other engagements back in London, we made the decision not to run the car.
A great weekend for EMH Motorsport. The hard work on the car over the winter definitely paid off with a complete trouble free two days of running.
The car is available for the next Lotus Cup UK rounds. Please get in touch if you are interested. Prices from £1,249 for a great race weekend with lots of track time.
