When was the last time you made yourself a priority? When was the last time you put your needs first?
As mothers we are always trying to be one step ahead of the game for our kids.
Stocking up on winter clothes when there is a sale on; preparing lunches the night before; taking a snack with you to pick up your pre-schooler because you know that she's going to try and destroy you if you don't bring food; meal-planning for the week so that your food budget will stretch as far as it's needed to; using the eyes in the back of your head to take note of where the precious toys required for bedtime were last played with; getting all of the (ridiculous amount) of school forms filled out and returned back on time and don't forget replacing the empty fucking bottle of ketchup that no-one told you about.
Doing all of these things makes our lives easier, of that there's no doubt. But all of these are the basics, this is just the normal day to day 'stuff' that needs to get done in order for family life to run relatively smoothly. This doesn't even take into consideration all the other stuff that happens on top of this in a normal day eg school runs, work, dinners, homework etc... I think it's so easy to get lost in the detail, to lose sight of what we need as a woman.
Do you know what your needs are outside of your role as a mum?
