The reality of losing 104 pounds... Loose skin.
If you look close, I have loose skin under my arm pits and around the nipple area.
This is a very difficult picture for me to post. And trust me, it looks 10x worse with my arms down to my side.
I was asked why I don't post shirtless pictures. Several reasons.
First, loose skin. Second, it's simply nothing I've ever been comfortable doing. Even before my teens I was skinny fat. I've never been able to take my shirt off without feeling embarrassed. Third, it's just not something I feel compelled to do.
People see the vascularity and size that my arms and shoulders have, and assume my chest is the same. Nope.
Losing 104 pounds of fat was freeing in many ways, but the extreme amount of weight that my body carried took its toll.
Again, some of you will say it doesn't look bad at all. You're seeing my chest from the best possible angle. The loose skin is there, and it is very noticeable.
Even though it's not fat, it's still hard to face in the mirror. When you've come so far, many days you wish every body part was perfect.
Not so much.
I want to be as transparent as possible. Perfection isn't the goal. Progress is.
Never be ashamed of who you are. We don't need to be shredded to inspire. We don't need to be ripped to reach people.
I am proud of my journey. It's all I have. I've made the best out of an awful situation.
We can't ask more out of ourselves than that.
