Rescues offer an endless amount of love to any one they meet! Raven has come such a long way!
Based on her behavior, one would not realize in June I pulled Raven out of a humane trap we set up behind a dumpster. Catching Raven was not our goal as we had set the trap for the black kitten wearing a pink collar (who we are still trying to capture). When I picked the trap off the ground, Raven began purring and attempting to lick my hand through the bars; she was obviously a stray rather than a feral feline. We took her to the Veterinarian where they informed us she was healthy despite being covered in fleas and ticks in addition to Conjunctivitis and an Upper Respiratory Infection. After getting her spayed, our Veterinarian informed us Raven had been one week pregnant. We were not aware she was pregnant and the Veterinarian felt with the vaccinations, antibiotics, and anesthesia the kittens would not have made it full term thus continued with the procedure. Even without a micro-chip, we attempted to find Raven's previous owners through different outlets but no one has come forward to claim this snuggle monster. Until we are able to find a forever home for Raven, she will continue to receive as much affection as she demands in our care.
Please remember to micro-chip your furry family as it helps rescues, volunteers, and Veterinarians return them to their proper home. Collars work well but can become misplaced in the event your pet escapes the home as most collars have a safety release to reduce damage to the airway if caught or tangled. As always, spaying and neutering pets is beneficial for the health of your animal in addition to reducing the risk of pregnancy.
