Long Hammer IPA – Dry-hopped India Pale Ale – Redhook Brewery, Seattle, WA This is the first Redhook brew that I have had, not to be confused with Red Oak. This Brewery is based out of Seattle. The Long Hammer IPA has a heavy citrusy Hops presence that has a strong citrusy and piney fragrance that was evident on the pour. Redhook makes the claim that this is one of America’s most drinkable IPAs, as well as Seattle’s #1 IPA, at 6.2% and 44 IBUs. I know two people from Seattle and I like this beer a lot better than both of them. Not to hate on Seattle, but this is probably the best thing I have seen come out of their city. I will give the Long Hammer IPA a 7.9 out of 10.0, and Beer Advocate gives this one an unfortunate 6.6. I always score before I see their score and I do not have an explanation for their score. They have plenty of reviews. The Long Hammer is rather light bodied which could be it, but as for overall quality I do not understand why this one is scored this low.
