I really wanted to like this book but I just couldn't. . The main section of the book is set in Afghanistan where Luttrell and his comrades engage in a battle with the Taliban. . The section of the book based around the seal training was very entertaining but at times it felt like Luttrell was trying to show how tough he was and didn't really go into detail on any of his comrades. . Also I didn't like Luttrell's constant references to the so-called liberal media for its role in retaining the military rules of engagement that prevent soldiers from killing unarmed civilians. Nor his complaints of the water bottle given to him by the men who ruined their lives to save him. . This gets two stars from me. Both of those come from the seal training section and the humanity shown by the Pashtun people. . I haven't watched the movie but still might give it a go because I like Taylor Kitsch. .
