Our road trip around the South Island wouldn't have been right without a trip to the famous Nugget Point lighthouse, situated between Dunedin and Invercargill.
First lit in 1870, this lighthouse has been keeping sailors safe for nearly 150 years. Once it used an oil burner, now it's an automated LED that's controlled all the way back in Wellington where we started our road trip.
This quiet little spot was littered with idyllic beachy bays, sun-lounging seals and even penguins. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
