Last weekend at the Steel Guitar Jamboree I saw a guy wearing this Palomino jacket. I caught up with the guy and asked to snap a photo of his great satin jacket. He said it belonged to his dad who was a booking agent. The jacket brought back great memories of going to The Palomino in No. Hollywood when I lived in Los Angeles. I saw some great acts there such as The Textones, Maggie Mayall, Lone Justice and many more. I still say the best show I ever saw was at The Palomino in 1998. I went to see a new band called The BoDeans. The warm up acts were Concrete Blonde with Johnette Napolitano and Little America. Kurt and Sammy put on an excellent show but then when Brian Setzer joined them on stage they tore the house down. Man what a show! Hard to believe this dive where they used to film bar room brawls for Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds movies was such a cool place to go and hear great bands.
Maria McKee was a founding member of the cowpunk and proto Americana band, Lone Justice, in 1982, with whom she released two albums. Bob Dylan wrote the song "Go Away Little Boy" for the band's debut album, Lone Justice, which later appeared as a B-side. #mariamckee#lonejustice#cowpunk#downthehighwaytheshow
