At 370 pounds and just 5'6 1/2" tall, everything felt hard.My plus-size figure made life hard on me.I felt like part of a circus act. Stares and glares from strangers made me want to hide out in my home!
It can make you feel self-conscious and miserable.I was disassociating myself because I didn’t want to accept what I was seeing in the mirror.
I was diagnosed with depression. I was so deeply depressed that I could barely walk steps, and had to sleep sitting up or else I would choke and gasp for air. Jerry was always concerned about my sleeping but never told me until years later..He was unsure how I would take this information.
I was a HOT mess. Shoot I tried every get-thin-quick scheme, only becoming more depressed when the scale refused to budge. So, I started small. I made the decision to incorporate exercise into every day. I stared with walking, then added stairs to my routine, workout videos, classes, and strength training, then finally I found these at home workouts that blew my MIND!!! The more I exercised, the better I felt. Now I'm down 192 pounds but the real accomplishment is how much better I truly do feel. I can sleep in a bed, I have energy, and I am no longer depressed. Life is great.
But I just couldn't maintain this weight loss, I had to learn to make peace with food and my body. I now work out reasonably, without punishing myself. I'm in the best physical, mental, and emotional shape of my life. Not my thinnest, but my healthiest!
So, stop worrying so much about the big goal and focus on making the next step in front of you the best one you can.
