The biggest mistake I see when people begin down the path of improving their nutrition is that they aren’t actually eating what they think they are eating. If you aren’t weighing your food, I can almost guarantee that you are over or under estimating your quantity of food...even if you are measuring with measuring cups!

In this example, if I didn’t measure at all, I would inadvertently eat 2 servings of cereal! 🙈 A measured 3/4 cup serving of cereal weighed 39 grams. (swipe left ⬅️) An actual serving, however is only 32 grams. If you measured that cereal with a measuring cup, you would be over eating by nearly 25% of a serving. You wouldn’t log it correctly and over time, you’re eating quite a few more calories than you think you’re eating. This results in stalled results and frustration! It’s worth it - go get a scale! They’re fairly cheap...mine is a $10 one from Amazon. Walmart has them too. You don’t need anything fancy!

I’m trying not to obsess about my macronutrient ratios (I have a tendency to do that🤷‍♀️) but I’m also trying to reach my goals. I’m learning it’s about finding the right balance so I can enjoy my life but also maintain focus so I can be healthy and strong. 💪💪

Today I treated myself to one of my favorite Juice Keys smoothie made with almond milk, cashew butter, banana, and zucchini. 😋👍Before I started preparing dinner I looked at my macro levels for the day and realized I hadn’t consumed enough protein and carbs🤦‍♀️(and boy, did I need them after that “cordio” workout🤣😅) A quick change in dinner plans resulted in this yummy shrimp stir fry with a little brown rice. PROTEIN ✅ CARBS✅

One of my very wise trainers @kimparro reminded me this morning that a small change can make a big difference. Of course, this makes logical sense and I’ve told myself this a million times...but it’s funny how I “forget” this when I go to grab another piece of my yummy baking (specifically my oatmeal bars🤣🤣) or fail to take the time to go through my food log. 🤔

Got home and felt really nauseous, so instead of skipping dinner I had ramen (no seasoning pack) cooked in chicken broth. Also, breakfast was 2 apples and a rice cake with peanut butter. Than for lunch was Romaine salad with cheese, croutons, carrots and Italian dressing .

We all see them on social media. The “perfect” people living “perfect” lives, eating “perfect”, wearing all the “perfect” clothes. IT’S NOT REAL! I follow a lot of fitness/nutrition bloggers and I have to remind myself that “this is their job”. They workout SEVERAL times a day or teach MULTIPLE classes. But ya know what? They all have their struggles as well. We are all just people! I’m a school nurse and a mom, wife, and daughter. I got things to do. Don’t get me wrong, I have developed a passion for nutrition and my own personal goals and intend to crush them. 💪🏼 But if we always live under the filter of perfection, we are always going to be frustrated and ready to quit. As you may know, I have been in Georgia for the last 6 days for baseball tournaments. I am making all kinds of efforts to stay in my lane. Was I “perfect”.... No. Did I make progress and adjust as needed. You bet! The second slide is My Fitness Pal average for the week. You can see some days I went over, but then compensated by staying under. Overall my average is where I need it to be for my goals. Don’t beat yourself up for a day that you ate everything in sight. Just adjust and look at your whole week. A weekly average is way more sustainable than trying to NOT eat something. Progress, not perfection. Track your meals! If you record your intake, you will be more likely to stay within your daily caloric limits. You can do it! 👍

I know I was suppose to stay away but it so hard. I got soooo many DMs, snaps and texts giving me so much love and support. People telling me to do it for yourself because that's what matters, that's what counts. People telling me they been there or going through it. People telling me I motivate them. That really touched me. I'm on day 4 and feel incredible and miss the love and support I get on here@ But, I have to remember it's about me, not the likes, comments and followers (you know who you are 💜).
