I stood there in middle of the road. It's a blow out after blow out. I can't manage to talk to a stranger for more than 5 mins. Some legends have elevator pitches and here I have been running around, starving for 2 days (story for another day) and trying to get used to art of selling and talking.
I am burning the candles on the both ends. Only people who spoke to me more than 10 mins were hookers. This was my 3rd day in USA. First time out of my country on my own. My voice is so timid. I think I am screaming but others keep asking me to repeat. How would I have known that my loud wasn't loud enough? I did not have a smile. I wanted to get used to my existence as I spent so much money to be here. Everyone told me that people in USA are nicer. Self doubt was the strongest as I thought it was me who can't get things right.
I took couple of hours break as I was to head to the club. Ever seen that lonely guy who doesn't have anyone to be with? I was going to be that dude for long periods of time. Except that I was really impressive that night.
Fake confidence, flashlight and really loud voice worked for me. Bouncers thought I lost something as I was walking with flash light. No sir, I am blind and can't see in this dark club. They promoted me to VIP as it was brighter there. I started to bounce on couch and invited everyone to do the same. Within 10 mins, we were 10 people being mad fun. After making new friends, I stayed there throughout the night and I knew deep down that I was going to be fine soon.
