WE B4 Me. It is a beautiful thing when we can work together with a collective goal in mind, create a strategy, and work to achieve desired outcomes. I just presented on this topic of "co-creation" and the work and mindset that is required to be successful in doing so. Yet, I grapple with this notion of co-creating with ppl who may seemingly share similar missions but do not have similar hearts. You know . . . that "knowing"--it's not a suspicion--you KNOW their motives are wicked--couched in niceties and pleasantries--and given the right opportunity (if no one is looking--they won't help you over the wall :-)
Insert side eye 👀 . . . You know I always hated when the villain would be hanging on for dear life almost plunging to his/her death, and the star of the movie would have compassion trying to save them, but you knew the heart and character of the villain. And as soon as the star reached to save the villain from sure death, the villain would turn on the hero and try to kill him. I would be shouting at the screen, "Nooooo!" Funny how that applies to our lives. We are to extend grace to others and forgive them. We must have a level of conviction that says, "Sis/Bruh, I will help you over this wall even if I know when I need help--if no one is looking, you will not only turn away, you might just spit on me too."
"Here’s another old saying that deserves a second look: ‘Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.’ Is that going to get us anywhere? Here’s what I propose: ‘Don’t hit back at all.’ If someone strikes you, stand there and take it. If someone drags you into court and sues for the shirt off your back, giftwrap your best coat and make a present of it. And if someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously." Matthew 5:38-42
