Just finished an amazing class at @purebarremclean with @ngutkin πŸ‘― Sometimes it's hard being in class & not comparing myself to the other girls. And I know that we ALL do it. But today I had to remind myself that I didn't choose the thick thigh life, the thick thigh life chose me πŸ˜‚ I'm curvy & even if I tone up/lose weight, this is my shape, & I choose to honor my body type. My self-confidence & worth are not determined by what size I am or am not. Having a "perfect" body does not = happiness, because ultimately that happiness is on the surface. I also have to remind myself that I'm in chronic pain 24/7 & that I'm doing the damn best that I can in any given moment. So instead of seeing limitations within my body, or choosing to get frustrated, I embrace what I CAN do. As long as I'm doing the best that I can, that's all that counts ❀️ #liveyourhealthy

I also figured this would be a good time to introduce myself to new followers who probably don’t really know much about, so I’m gonna share a little & include some random ass facts about me too 🀣

I started this account after enrolling in @nutritionschool & have also taken @gabbybernstein’s SJMC Level 1, but my true passion is in mental health, especially since I have dealt with binge eating/overeating/weight/disordered eating/body image since the age of 6. Yes, 6. I gained weight out of nowhere & my mom tried putting me on diet after diet, not to be harmful, but I think she honestly thought it would be best for my health. Unfortunately it’s always stuck with me & now I’m 35, & have done a shit ton of work around my mental health to help with that. In 2018 I will be fully launching my coaching programs around helping women do the same πŸ™ŒπŸ»

I was born in Washington DC & nobody believes me bc apparently no one that actually lives in the DC area is actually from here πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I was raised speaking Spanish because my mom is Chilean, & being Latina is in my blood. I absolutely love it & part of me wants to move to a Latin American country. I used to be a teacher, but I quit bc I hated the system, & now I temp nanny to pay my bills until I can get my coaching business up & running. I feel like so many emerging entrepreneurs hide what they do until they’re fully coaching, but why?! You gotta pay the bills somehow!

I’ve been a student of A Course in Miracles the last 3 years & can honestly say it’s made a huge difference in my mental health. Jesus I just realized I’ve written a lot πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Some final thoughts though πŸ‘€

I legit don’t understand why girls are obsessed with dry shampoo. It still makes my hair feel dirty & I’d rather just get in the shower & be clean from head to toe. I also don’t understand what the fascination is with chocolate & peppermint. Like why eat chocolate with something that tastes like toothpaste? πŸ€” My favorite color is hot pink. Aaand I think I’m out of room πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

We hear this soooo many times on social media, but do we even know what it means?! To really, truly love yourself, no questions asked? The irony is that if at our truest, purest form we are only love ("Teach only love, for that is what you are" - A Course in Miracles), then why do we fight & struggle & resist against it so much? Why do we fight our highest good? To me it goes FAR deeper than the whole "Love your body" movement, which still just scratches the surface of what it includes to love YOU. It's also not all about drinking green juice & salads & going "gluten free & sugar free" πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„In fact, I don't think it's about that at all. You could eat a doughnut & do it in a way that's loving towards yourself, as long as you are choosing love in your mind & not guilt/hate towards yourself when eating it. If you are using food choices to determine if you are "loving yourself," then it's still making you "good" when you drink the green juice & "bad" when you eat the doughnut, & that's not being loving at all. Just some random thoughts to think about - the choice to be loving always comes back to which teacher you're choosing in your mind πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈ

You are the one who spends the most time with you. Do it for you, & nobody else ❀️✨

This morning I was doing kundalini yoga, & as I settled into camel pose, all of a sudden felt myself bursting into tears. I tried to question it at first...."why am I crying? I'm not going through anything specific." The ego wanted to analyze & seek answers. My soul said "it's ok, cry. Sometimes you just need to let pent up emotions come up, & crying is their release." So I let myself cry, & allowed the tears to come later on in the day as they were welling up. Sometimes it feels like we resist something as simple as crying because we "shouldn't be" or you think "what is wrong with me?" And the answer is nothing. Maybe your soul just needed to grow a little more ❀ #soulgrowth #kundalini

Like every muscle, the best way to keep your heart strong is to use it. And like every exercise, you can choose to work on specific muscles like the heart. You don’t need to be the greatest athlete or the hardest trainer to boost your heart health, but you can choose the right kinds of exercise that’ll help keep your heart pumping.

What kinds of exercise do I need for heart health?
Any form of moderate exercise is good for overall health, but to focus on your heart, you’ll want to do aerobic exercises. An aerobic exercise, also known as β€œcardio,” can be any exercise that requires your heart to constantly pump oxygenated blood to your working muscles. Cardio exercises stimulate your heart rate and breathing rate, and challenge your heart to become stronger.

1. Brisk walking or hiking
2. Jogging or running
3. Swimming
4. Cycling
5. Dancing

Throwback to the first time I met @lynajones at the A Course in Miracles Conference in NYC that @gretchen_trent invited me to two years ago 😍 I remember being hesitant to approach Lyna because I felt like she was an ACIM celebrity πŸ˜‚ But was THE nicest person in the world to me! ❀ I even remember her saying that she was going to follow me back on Instagram & I felt like I had to defend what I posted about, since it relates more to body image & fitness, & not the "typical" message the Course teaches. But Lyna told me to be proud of what I was teaching & that the methods are different for everyone, but ultimately the message is the same (or something along those lines πŸ˜‚).
