You know those tough days? The ones that don't go to plan? Those are the ones that make you.
When I see you posting or hear you talking about how you [think you] failed .... I'm watching closely. Why? Because these are the days or the circumstances (or workouts or hissy fits and panics) that:
1. ... make you REAL
2. Your perceived imperfections let me relate to you without feeling threatened (or crappy about myself)
3. It's not what went wrong ... it's what you took from the experience that enriches you and those who connect with you and can RELATE (see #2)
4. You do not have to be perfect to 'succeed'
in fact, how you handle what YOU see as a fail, is what helps others relate and move forward.
5. Don't get caught in a moment and feel like it's a forecast of your destiny. YOU choose where you go from here and you do that by accepting that, yes, it sucks right now. No, I cannot possibly see in this moment how this is going to make my life better. But tomorrow, a week, a day, a year from now .... don't forget that you got through it because you chose not to let on moment be the be-all and end-all of everything you're working for. .
I am a coach. That means it’s all about YOU. I’m proud of being humbled. This is where I am reminded of my purpose.
Bottom line: Every day is not equal. How you respond to the ones that suck can be the difference between the dirt and the gold. .
