This is America... for now anyways. A few nights ago my husband and I were at the local grocery store. I went to get in line before him so the process would go quicker. I stood in line behind a black police officer, I thought nothing of it he is getting his groceries we are getting ours. As my husband approached the register to join me in line the black police officer put his hand on his gun. No that negro didn’t! Yes, he did child! I was speechless (rarely happens) I was beyond angry to say the least. An older woman is line noticed his actions and immediately smiled at my husband and said “evening son” We knew exactly what she meant. Son you are good don’t let this evil take that from you, she said all that with, “evening son”. We made it through the line and the police officer couldn’t even look me in the face. I tried so hard to get eye contact, I wanted that police officer to look me in my face so he could see the light in my eyes.
We made it out the store and I immediately went to what I know works PRAYER! Where is he safe? Where can his heart find rest? Not even in his own community with his people... I believe I will live see the day where 6’3 and literally black is not a crime until then Mr. police officer may you find the love of God because you are lost with a gun. .
