Barbell Prescription of the day:
- Bench: 230 (70%1RM) 3x5 and 1x8
- Squat: 4x4x295
- Alt db Incline Press 4x6x90s
- Ham Curls w ball 3x12
- Rear delt flies/band pull parts 3x20x20s
.
A note on plateaus (for intermediate lifters): anytime you think you’ve plateaued you probably haven’t. Increase frequency (# of times per week), volume per session (sets or reps per session), or intensity (%1RM). In that order IMO.

Want to bench more weight? Bench press more often. Want to squat more weight? Squat more often. Etc.

Last week I was asked by a gentleman, who is a friend, co- worker & someone I once hired as my jiu jitsu instructor, if I would work with him on some bladed tool (knife) mechanics.

This guy has a vast knowledge of numerous subjects and is a reputable martial artist in his own right. Having vast experience in kickboxing, judo, jiu jitsu, mma etc.
*
I mention this only to acknowledge that, for me, as an instructor, it's an honor & privilege that I ALWAYS hold in high regard when asked to teach and/ or share information with a newly interested student or client.
*
And whereas, I approach both with the same high level of due respect, admittedly there is something special and affirming when the request is made by someone whom already possesses experience and a multitude of skill sets.

So with that... *
*
After expressing that what we were about to do, was simply drilling and "NOT" knife fighting, we proceeded to train. *
*
While we trained, as it is often the case, we spoke of "all" things " Combative & Martial!" *
We spoke of ground fighting & firearms & our full contact ring fighting days & limb and joint control and on & on & on and then of course... we spoke of knives! *
*
The interesting thing, throughout all the movement and conversation, it happened almost simultaneously, when we both verbally expressed the understanding that "Concepts will Transcend Throughout All Mechanics, Techniques and Modalities!"

And that's the thought and that's the word I'll leave you with today! "CONCEPTS!"

In 10 years what do you want do you want your life to look like?

I literally sat here with tears in my eyes, because I feel like it is my purpose to share what is on my heart. 💕
10 years ago, I was a 25 year old, newly homeowner, married with no children getting paid $45,000 to fold T-shirts and commute 45 mins to work . I didn't think about what I wanted my future life to look like because I was so consumed with the day to day grind. I thought this is how life is. 💕
Work hard for corporate, hopefully get promoted so I can make more money, so that when I have kids I can afford daycare. Only take two weeks off a year because thats what your company gives you, and never use sick days because work is to busy to call out sick...

These are lies!! You do not have to work the job you are working if you hate it, if you are under paid, if you think thats what you are suppose to do. Just because you have a masters in Education, you are not stuck being an under compensated teacher. 💕
You are worth more, you can dream big and you can create the life you want to walk in every day. I didn't learn this until the last few years. 💕
And, even though I have made changes to create the life I want to live, I am still living small. I started to be content rather than want for more. I lost sight of what I really want for my family ( Seth and I working together creating generational wealth, Millionaire by 40).

I realized that might sound crazy to some of you, some of you might think there is no way (its okay, watch me it fuels my fire)!! For those that are sick of being sick and tired, join me!!
