Staying motivated is hard.
Today is def one of those days!
I am tired, I was supposed to do cardio today and to be brutally honest I just didn't want to go. So I didn't. I know you were all expecting me to say I powered through. Nope. I went shopping, picked up my kids and now I'm just doing "mom stuff" til it's time to crash. 🙌🏼
Point being not everyday is great, we all have off days and THAT IS OK! I had to post a throwback pic to remind myself what I'm capable of, but also to say I don't have to be that way all of the time!
No one stays lean 24/7.
Stop being so hard on yourself!

Tonight I'm trying to take my own advice! Stay consistent, stop stressing and just keep grinding away! But don't forget to listen to your body and chill.

I'm on vaca this weekend so I was hoping to trim down to this before going but I'm not 💯 concerned right now, which is a good thing!
You have to take breaks and I've been on my 60 plan but that is in no way a diet. I'm not counting calories and I am eating high calorie foods. I'm just enjoying the fresh meals..... and the butter etc! Lol!
So yes, you can be healthy and enjoy life! Just wanted to share and I think tomorrow will be a much better workout because of my lil break 😜

New post up about kindness, Lana del Rey and travel woes. This is my first post reflecting on my Italy study abroad. I realize it's not Thursday but here's a throw back to Lake Garda, one of my favorite spots in Italy.
Also for those of you who don't know me well, this picture was taken February of 2015, AKA pre-cancer. If I look bigger/healthier it's because I was. During this trip though and the summer that followed I lost 15 pounds without making any lifestyle changes. That weight loss is the only cancer symptom I had. If you are experiencing weird symptoms I would encourage you to go to the doctor and make sure everything is okay. I am a lot better now and cancer free but I have still not managed to return to my old healthier weight.
It is odd for me to look through those photos and realize how innocent I look. I am glad I didn't know what was ahead. Studying abroad freshman year brought me my best friends and I'm so glad I got to have that experience. Despite the fact that it was tough my experience with cancer has shaped me into a kinder, and better friend, according to them. I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone but I think that despite all the misery it has caused me it also brought some positives.

I have run out of energy.

The emotional bandaids I've used to piece together my days are no longer sticking. My physical outlet has been more of a trash bag and is no longer holding. The force flex is slowly ripping under the tension and something has to give.
I have emotionally and physically reached my limit.
Over the last 6 months I have over trained and under recovered myself into weight gain, poor sleeping, lack of appetite, low energy, emotional fragility, consistent nerve back pain, autoimmune disease flare ups, chronic inflammation and soreness.
And yet I push.
My body is telling me to make a shift.
So I must.

Today was a rare day when I was mentally ready, but my body said absolutely NOT! 😕 We had an insanely busy, though incredibly fun weekend. We personally hosted 2 parties at our house, and then also attended a party at a friend's. I got to see our exchange student from 20 years ago and I got to see Trevor Noah from the @thedailyshow in a live show. On top of that, I ran 6 miles Friday and 12 on Saturday and haven't gotten a good night's sleep in days. 😖 So, to say it's been a whirlwind is accurate. And today, I just didn't have it in me. I slowly jogged 1.5 miles and called it quits. Es ist wichtig auf ihn zu hören, auch mal statt zu trainieren sich auszuruhen und auch ab und zu Schwäche zu zeigen. Solche Tage gehören zum Leben dazu, wie die guten Tage. I somehow "tweaked" my shoulder again last week, practically forcing me to take a break from several upper body exercises and some lower. Whether sick or injured it's always great to listen to what your body tries to tell you. It could easily be the difference between something minor and a lifetime away from the gym. However, I refuse to let this setback force me to sit back; I will just have to find a way to work around this. After all, greatness doesn't come from perfection. It's achieved when one learns to overcome even the worst of obstacles.

Reminded why Arms and Abs are my least favorite tonight 🙃 I switched things up and ditched my condo’s full length mirror for my neighborhood’s gym mirror. I have felt myself cheating in my workouts at home recently and luckily the change of scenery totally helped! Reminder to keep pushing yourself and changing things up - it’s the best way to keep yourself going and avoid plateaus 😊

Allowing the body to rest is JUST as important as pushing yourself hard in the gym. I could ignore the aches and pains and push through but in the end that is only taking a step back. I'm spending today and this evening resting up and hoping my body will be ready to get after it tomorrow! 🙏🏼👊🏼

On a side note, the physical practice of asana paired with ujjayi breath is an amazing way to connect to our bodies. So many of us go throughout our lives completely disconnected and controlled by our fear based minds.

It's not our faults either, as our minds are wired for survival. Being liked back in primitive times was literally life or death. If the tribe rejected us we would die. The problem is this same system is still running our lives nowadays, even though we won't die if others don't like us or approve of us.

This is where we can tune in to our higher selves and intuition and make choices from this place. Our higher self operates in love and abundance. We can still consult our minds after, to keep ourselves safe but we don't let that fear and scarcity control our life.

To be able to do this, we need to be connected to our body first and yoga is an amazing place to start!

Two ab-burning and butt-kicking workouts I have been LOVING😍// I had a great workout this evening and I'm feeling accomplished and strong 💪🏼 My workout included 20 minutes with different variations on the stairmaster, 10 minutes of biking, 5 minutes of intense rowing and a bunch of ab and arm workouts for some toning! // These exercises in the demo video really work multiple muscle groups which makes you really feel it the next day🔥 On a day where toning is my focus, I try to do between 10-15 reps of each of these exercises and 3️⃣ rounds 🤙🏻

I'm one hungry woman.

World, I listened to you for too long when you told me women shouldn't get too big.

So, I felt bad for wanting more, ignored my body, and denied myself my desires.

But I've started listening and I've decided I'm hungry.

I'm hungry for drunken, truthful conversations while sober.

I'm starving for women to ignore their "good girl" conditioning.

I desire eye contact that scares me a little.

I'm a bottomless pit of big questions.

I'm ravenous for talking about the things we think about most, even though we're taught to talk about them the least.

I could always make room for a game of "Would You Rather"?. I'm thirsty for being curious and never settling. That's like water to me.

I crave mind-blowing sex at 4 pm.

I don't think money should be a sometimes dessert for women. They shouldn't feel guilty for having it. Money should be an included side order.

I want an appetizer of endless possibility that satisfies my inner drive but makes me hungry for more.

I want breakfast with loved ones and sometimes just one loved one... in bed.

I want a dinner of interrupting excited voices, but with pauses and real listening, interjected with laughter coming from my scarred stomach.

I want a generous nightcap of love that spills over into every area of my life.

And wanting these things doesn't make me a bad woman.

We're born hungry. Don't let the world spoil your appetite.

I'm one hungry woman and I'm ready to eat because if I die tomorrow I want to die satiated with life.

Extreme flair up has grasped me in its damn claws. Every joint in my hands hurt, feet are hurting, legs are aching. I don't want to over stress my body anymore today. (Work was really hard on me and the prednisone did nothing)
Sauna felt good, some turmeric medicine, turmeric tea and my bed is my plan tonight. My kids have been amazing! They did the dishes for me after dinner, and gave me a foot rub. Hopefully will be better in the am to get some sort of workout in.

The sickness is not going away 😩😩 of coz doing cardio / SoulCycle 🚴🏽‍♀️is not helping much! Which made me cough so much! Although it made my mind feel better 🙊. Listen to your body !!! ☝🏽if u are really feeling sick or having hard time to catch breathe , but still really wanna workout?! You shd do some gentle fitness, such as yoga, Pilates or barre burn . Cardio or HIIT will only make it worse. Find the workout uses slow breathing which can also help you focus engaging the muscle better , so don't think it's not an effective workout.
