First seeing lions in the wild was a truly surreal experience. We spotted a lioness early on in our game drive at Chobe, stealthily moving between the scrub. Only a few moments and she disappeared, knowing how to lose watchful eyes. Later, just when we thought we’d see no more, we drove past a young male, unwary, sunning himself in the morning warmth. But there, in the shadows of the nearby tree, his brother sat watching my every move as I marvelled at them. It was humbling. And a little chilling. It is impossible not to be in awe of these beautiful creatures.
