There are plenty of reasons you could get in a sweat today, but I’m going to give you a list of reasons that don’t warrant a workout:
• You over indulged this past weekend
• You know you’re going out to dinner & drinks later
• You feel obligated to “never miss a Monday”
• You have to be in a bikini this weekend
• The scale hasn’t budged
.
It’s okay if you indulged. I hope you enjoyed it.
It’s okay if you have plans later. You don’t need to burn off extra calories.
It’s okay if you miss a Monday. There’s still 6 other days of the week.
It’s okay if you have to be in a bikini this weekend. Bikini, meet body, meet bikini body.
It’s okay if the scale hasn’t budged. Use the scale in your head that tells you how you FEEL.

I woke up this morning and appreciated the treats I had this weekend, used them to fuel my workout that I looked forward to because I enjoy the way that it makes me feel. And it just so happened to be a Monday 🤷🏼‍♀️
Because this is a lifestyle — not some rigid diet or bootcamp that I feel trapped in. It’s good for my soul, my mind, and my body reaps the physical benefits in the process.
Don’t over complicate it. Just enjoy it 👏🏼

You can’t receive what God has in his hands when you’re holding too tightly to what’s in your own
@stevenfurtick said something along these lines this morning and it was one of those moments where God knew what I needed to hear in church EVEN THOUGH I didn’t want to hear it
Because I’ve been an anxious mess since my applications have been verified this time around for PA school
Constantly checking my emails
Reading and re-reading the fine print to make sure I covered all my bases
Worrying myself sick over the fact that I have ZERO control over what happens next
Telling myself I’ve wasted money on another application cycle because I’m still not good enough
But then God spoke to me through this sermon
To remind me that I need to open my hands and let go of that control, so that I am open to what He has in His hands for me
His plan for me is already perfect
And though the devil will plant a million hypothetical tomorrows in my mind,
There isn’t anything that God doesn’t already have figured out.
He is in control.
Not me. Just Him.

As many of you know I’ve been out of the gym consistently for a while now — only managing a few days of cardio since my accident.
Today I attempted a light shoulder day and the anxiety swept over me as I entered the gym.
I’ve been here hundreds if not a thousand times and still I found myself worried about everybody else.
.
Will the regulars think I’ve been slacking off?
Will new members think I’m trying too hard?
Should I have worn this crop top?
Will anyone notice I’ve lost muscle mass?
What if my form is off?
Should I still try to record?
Will they judge my light weights?
What if they ask what I’ve been doing?
Will it show that I can’t do what I used to?
Should I even try to lift?
.
All of these thoughts crossed my mind.
I know how anxiety-provoking the gym can be. Or any fitness studio. Or any social setting in general.
And I want you to know that if you struggle with this, IT’S OKAY.
As long as you don’t let it cripple you.
Because the truth is y’all — it. doesn’t. matter.
The truth is most people are just looking around making sure you’re not watching them.
The truth is EVEN IF THEY ARE judging you, THAT’S ON THEM and their insecurity.
The truth is that you’re a badass every time you step foot into that gym. Or yoga studio. Or boxing club. Or that track.
Whatever you’re doing to better yourself,
to strengthen yourself,
physically, mentally, spiritually —
It’s not about anybody else.
So throw a hat on, some headphones, and find a corner of the gym if that’s what you need,
And just do you girlfriend✌🏼

Last night I was rear ended at a stoplight by a lady who was easily going 45-50 mph. To my surprise, when I pulled over after the light turned green, she sped off around me. By the time I was able to wrap my head around what happened, I was only able to get the color of the SUV and the first three of the license plate. When I showed up at the police station, they said the police had found her and that she was believed to be intoxicated. I’m doing okay right now, with the exception of whiplash and a terrible migraine — but I just thought I’d take a second to remind you:

1️⃣ If you SEE something, SAY something. There were plenty of witnesses around me that could have helped me by calling the police or pulling over to make sure I was okay. These days I feel like people don’t want to get involved, but your help could make all the difference.

2️⃣ DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. I don’t care if it’s three drinks or thirteen. I’m so lucky that the damage to my car and to myself wasn’t worse. There’s NO excuse. Get an Uber. Call a friend. There’s more to it than wrecking your own life, but you’re putting the lives of innocent people in your hands.

Feeling thankful for Brennan and my fam for coming to my rescue and also for the police department who worked so quickly. I’m EXTREMELY fortunate & God is so good ♥️

✨ SHOULDER WARMUP ✨
I’ll be be first one to tell you I used to think warming up was a joke and a waste of time — and I especially neglected my upper body 😅 My idea of warming up was using lighter weights and then getting right to the heavy lifts. But y’all. THAT’S NOT ENOUGH 🙅🏼‍♀️ your shoulders are an extremely fragile joint with lots of little muscles and potential to tear — ever heard of someone with a rotator cuff injury? Yeah. Not a fun time.
Here’s a few exercises I do to get the blood flowing. I love using the resistance band first AND THEN using a lighter weight like a KB to do a quick superset before hitting the heavier weights 💃🏼

My guess is for most of us, it’s more often than you say
“I love my body because of...”
Self-love has become a bit of a social media epidemic
And while I love that and I love seeing girls say they love themselves and they love their bodies
I’ve also been the girl who struggles with not loving EVERY single part of her body
Like anything in life, I don’t believe self-love has to be perfect
Stop saying you love yourself despite all these things
How quickly that turns something positive into pointing out the negative
Just LOVE YOURSELF
The best you can
Love your body for all that it IS
Instead of all that you still wish it could be
