I've been hesitant write this
Because while I love being real and raw and vulnerable with you all,
Sometimes I feel pressured to be this happy-go-lucky, smiley, motivated girl
The other day I got a message saying this person wished they had my life because it looks so perfect and I look so happy all the time
I know I'm admired because of my positivity
And I know people look to me for inspiration
And that fills my heart with so much joy
But there are days I am filled with frustration and anger and sadness and lack of worth
There are days I'm not sure what I'm doing
Or where I'm even headed
There are days I smile to take a picture and immediately just want to curl up into a ball
There are days I wonder why I'm applying to grad school for the third time
And I don't choose to put those days on here much because quite honestly I hate drawing attention to it
And the last thing I want is pity
Or people feeling bad for me
I realize that most of my problems are trivial
But for those of you who know what it's like to be anxious about something 24/7
To consistently be in a state of worry or feeling like you're not good enough
I want you to know that it's okay
You don't always have to put a brave face on
I was listening to a podcast this morning by @stevenfurtick
And he was talking about how sometimes we can't understand our journey
But we have to trust that the steps we're taking are in order
"Even when I fell, even when I tripped,
Even when I stumbled, even when I missed it,
My steps are ordered. And when I fall I fall forward.
Cause gods hand is over my life."
It's okay to admit that it took everything in you to get out of bed. What matters is that you do it anyway.
It's okay to admit you had a terrible workout because you're lacking motivation. What matters is that you went to the gym.
And it's okay to feel like you don't have it all together. Because no one does.
But your steps are in order
And I'm here for you if you ever need to talk πŸ’•

Sometimes I struggle with this because I feel like my whole life I was told not to be selfish.
Not really understanding that you can be both selfish AND selfless.
Until today I was thinking about why I started this IG in the first place.
Yes, I love sharing my workouts with you
And hearing that I've inspired you live a better lifestyle.
Honestly few things make me happier than the amazing messages I receive daily.

Approval from yourself
I do this for my well being
I do this to strengthen my body and my heart
I do this because it makes me happy
I DON'T do this for praise
I DON'T do this for attention
I DON'T do this for the number of followers

In case you're in need of reminding:
Amazing things happen when you start to focus on the HEALTH of the cells that make up your body rather than the WEIGHT of them. Yesterday I had to step on the scale at the doctors office and for some reason I felt nervous. I know I'm much healthier now than I used to be, but for so long I was the girl that just wanted to reach her goal weight - sometimes it's hard to kick that mindset completely. But then I look at these pictures and realize just how much muscle I'd have to lose in order to be the 115 pounds I used to desire. And I know now that it wouldn't be healthy. Stop focusing on the weight loss and focus on the #gains. Both mental and physical. You are so much more than a number. You are the healthy heart behind every cardio session and the strong muscles behind every dumbbell lifted. Stop giving the scale all the credit. It's happier that way I promise πŸ˜˜πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

I set the timer for 10 minutes and do as many rounds as possible. Taking a 30 sec break between rounds.
Also, as you'll see, I sometimes incorporate glute bridges after ab exercises because you still have to keep your core engaged AND it's a good leg day glute burnout.
Remember that abs can be strengthened in the gym, but my #1 recommendation to really make them visible is DIET.

Can I be honest with you?
This is long, but it needs to be said.
Today I'm feeling a little discouraged.
Between friends having their account completely deleted by Instagram itself without warning,
To getting on here and seeing a caption from someone that completely mimics yours,
To seeing the people that I've grown close with constantly harassed by trolls πŸ™„
I can't lie when I say it's disheartening.
I realize it's social media and I don't need it to be validated in this world.
My true friends I've created on here, I know I'd still have if Instagram were gone tomorrow.
But when it's something you put your heart & soul into
And a brand that you build
And a platform you can use to inspire and motivate
It becomes an extension of yourself.
And when it's flooded with negativity, it can weigh on you.
Sometimes I log on and I have to take a step back.
I couldn't tell you the number of times I've been asked if I pay for followers πŸ™„
This account isn't about followers.
It's about having an OUTLET.
It's about making those connections and real-life friendships.
It's about giving back to those who genuinely want and need it.
It's about me being able to share with you my journey with the hope that I can inspire and motivate someone who struggles the same way I do.
It's about BEING MYSELF.
That's how I gained my following.
At the end of the day, if all you care about is the number on the screen, you won't be happy.
If you're trying to post like somebody else because it works for them, IT WON'T WORK FOR YOU.
You can't connect with people on an intimate level if you're not being 100% yourself.
Like my girl @amandabucci said "the only difference between you and every person on Instagram... is YOU."
So just be your beautiful, badass self.
