FAQ ‡️ bc I'm apparently the queen of GI issues #blessup. Here are three questions I get asked prob everyday πŸ™†πŸΌ Feel free to let me know if you have any more! πŸ’•
1️⃣How were you diagnosed with IBS/SIBO?
β€’ Testing on testing. Bloodwork, breath tests, elimination diets, etc. I highly recommend seeing a GI specialist or naturopathic physician if you struggle with digestive problems. Google doesn't have all the answers.
2️⃣What were your symptoms?
β€’ It varied, but predominantly bloating and irregularity (sorry not sorry if this is TMI). And I'm talking like severe bloating. My stomach was distended and painful and looked like I could be 7 months pregnant after I would eat anything. I would go from not being able to go to the bathroom for days to spending nights in the bathroom so sick.
3️⃣What helps alleviate your symptoms?
There isn't any one thing that will "cure" my symptoms, but I've found a combination of helpful tips & tricks & supplements.
β€’ daily probiotic + digestive enzyme (from @lifeseasons) that helps with the bloating
β€’ betaine HCL to help with my low stomach acid
β€’ adrenal support (from @lifeseasons) to help with adrenal fatigue and my hormone imbalance. This is likely the result of low stomach acid and poor absorption of nutrients and can cause raised cortisol and deplete the adrenals.
β€’ @vitalproteins collagen peptides: contains amino acids proline and glycine which are essential building blocks to repairing damaged intestinal lining.
β€’ peppermint and ginger tea - peppermint moreso for digestion and ginger for bloating. I usually drink them at night.

I actually have been asked this quite a few times recently so I've done some reflecting.
Who says you can't love your body as is AND still work toward changing yourself for the better?
The girl on the left was happy in her body.
This was honestly the start of my complete self-acceptance and self-love and body positivity.
Between these pictures, I've changed my workout regimen to something that I truly enjoy.
I eat to 80% to fuel and nourish my body.
And I eat 20% to make my heart and soul happy.
I have finally found this balance that is constantly talked about on SM.
.
Our bodies are constantly changing.
SELF-LOVE AND BODY POSITIVITY DO NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO STAY STAGNANT.
As long as you're making decisions based on what you want, and not what society is telling you to do, that's all that matters.
Self-love means loving your body at every stage.
It's why I hashtag #LoveYourEveryBody.
Love yourself when you're feeling bloated as much as when you're feeling lean.
Love yourself when you look tired as much as when you're glowing.

Remember that self-love looks different on everyone.
It's not black and white.
It's through thick and through thin.
It's loving your body not only in the good days, but everyday.
If you want to be better for yourself, be better for yourself.
Isn't that a form of self-love anyway?

Need a reality check?
There's nothing easy about waking up at 5 AM to go to the gym.
I don't have some superpower that makes me ready to go when that alarm goes off.
Yes I'm a "morning person."
That doesn't mean I don't want an extra 2 hours of sleep.
I don't have a secret.
There's no trick to getting up and getting it done.
I do it not because it's easy.
But because I'm committed.
Because I set goals and I'm determined to reach them.
Honestly sometimes I wish I had some magic to share with you all.
But the truth is if you want to get you workouts in early,
you'll get up when that 5 AM alarm goes off too.
It'll be worth it in the long run.

Sometimes I feel like my pictures don't show the progress that I see and it can be frustrating. But at the same time, the girl on the left would angle her body in ways to make it look smaller or more lean.

There is nothing wrong with the way I look on the left. But that girl wasn't happy or confident or making the progress that she wanted. She was restricting calories to 1000 max and doing hours of cardio a week. She was obsessed with being "skinnier." Constantly letting the way she looked dictate her mindset and her value.
.
The girl on the right is confident in a bikini. I am no longer concerned with being "skinnier." I know I'm more than the percentage of body fat or the number on the scale. I am my strong mind, my strong heart, and my strong muscles. I have gained physically, yes. But more than that, I love my self as a whole, I know my worth, and I am happy.

Listen. For so long I was unhappy in my skin, self-conscious about parts of my body that I had no control over, constantly wishing I looked different. I put up with shitty relationships and emotional abuse because there was a part of me that thought I deserved it.

But think about it - how can you expect to give your best love to those who surround you if you're still incapable of doing the same for yourself. Can you truly love somebody, flaws and all, if you cant love your flaws as well? Realizing this and figuring out how to look in the mirror and admire what I see has not only changed my relationship with myself, but also with those that l love.

Pardon my language, but self-love is fucking hard. It's taken me a while and honestly I'm still learning. But I promise if you practice it, you'll become a better person to yourself, to your friends, to your family. So today take a lil extra time to appreciate yourself as a whole πŸ’— because you'd do that for others, why not yourself?

If I'm being honest guys I've always been self-conscious of my upper body πŸ™†πŸΌ As a dancer, I've carried most of my strength in my lower body and I've forever had "pancake arms" πŸ˜‚ Then when I first started lifting I neglected them because I was scared of them becoming too manly or bulky πŸ™„ Now, upper body has become one of my favorites to train, especially shoulders. I love seeing my arms lean out and I LOVE seeing the strength I've gained πŸ’• I may not have much, but I'm getting there. Some serious Sunday night reflection for ya πŸ‘‡πŸΌ last time I posted one of these, I got a few messages and comments that really disturbed me πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ saying that my these posts just show that I'm fake on Instagram and they make people feel crappy about themselves bc I "still look fit and thin in the reality video." SO I started to think a lot about my desire to be real and transparent with you guys and:
1️⃣ I'm not here to make you feel bad. Ever. And tbh I don't think that there's much that I do that gives that impression.
2️⃣ These posts are simply to show you that if you feel frustrated with your body, it's important to remember not to compare your "reality" to someone else's Instagram.
3️⃣ At some point, we as the instagram "scroller" have to accept responsibility for the comparing we do and not fault the instagram "poster" out of envy or jealousy or insecurity.
4️⃣ Showing love for my body is one of the hardest things I'm learning to do. So if I want to post a picture in which I feel confident, I can do just that. And I hope you know it's not to be fake.
5️⃣ There's nothing wrong with how I look behind-the-scenes. I'm proud of my body always. But I especially proud of my progress and if I choose to showcase that on Instagram, I deserve to πŸ’—
