I like when @clareyneilson and I go out to @kcalkitchen because I get to order my favourite (Salt and Chilli Chicken) and she orders the specials and I get to try them! Best of both worlds, winner winner chicken dinner... literally 🐔🙌🏼 .

How often do you spend time scrolling through social media then BAM 10mims, 20mins or even an hour has past? You could take those 10-20mins and blast out a workout without even leaving your house 🤩 .

Tuesdays for me are a day I’m choosing to work on mobility by going to Body Balance class which is a mix of Yoga Pilates and Thai Chi. Great for mobility and also making you feel all calm and cool before the day starts 💆🏻‍♀️ .

I have about 20mins gym floor time before the class started and done this quick blast.. > 10 rounds of 1 min skipping. > Choose one @zuufitness move to do in between * frogs, bear crawls etc*. - #ZUU helps to work on your range of movement, works on full body mobilisation while preventing injury (previous posts for videos) .

20-25 mins in total job done 👊🏼 .

Extra Lean ‘Fridge’ Chilli and Sweet Potato Rice😋 .

Fridge chilli? Basically every veg I have in the fridge goes in the chilli 🙊 AND I was pleasantly surprised at this sweet potato rice.
Now Im not claiming it is rice but I like to try and mix up my meals to keep it interesting and this tasted good 👌🏼 .

Chilli is super easy and quick;

Fry off onions with some chilli flakes (or a chopped chilli) then add 500g extra lean beef mince and let it brown.
Add a spinkle garlic and crumble half a low sodium beef stock cube and some water and mix through. Then add 1tsp of paprika and 2tsp of cumin before adding a can of chopped tomatoes. Season, add a good few splashes of Lea & Perrins and mix through.
After a couple of minutes add all the veg you like and some kidney beans with more paprika and cumin (as above) and another good few splashes of Lea & Perrins and simmer for about 30mins. .

I often simmer the meat with the spices for 20mins and then add my veg in the last 10mins. Depends on preference for crunchiness or mushyness of veg 🤓

Sweet potato rice took 1 min in the micro for half a pack.
Plate up rice, chilli, a big handful of spinach, some cheese and enjoy. 🍴 .

The rest has gone into tubs for lunch / another dinner through the week 👩🏻‍🍳 .

When I said I was having a girls night yesterday I was asked a few times will you drink with your friends and will you eat chocolate etc tonight? And the answer is YES!! I LOVE chocolate I also love prosecco (and gin🙊). .

It’s funny because a few years ago I would have been the girl who didn’t enjoy time with my friends, I’d take my own food and I’d limit my alcohol intake all in the quest to have ‘a good body’ 🤦🏻‍♀️ but what actually defines agood body? Is it one that aesthetically has muscles and abs? Is it a body that doesn’t have those things? .

Well for me, it’s the body and mind you’re being kind to regardless of what that looks like on the outside. I say it all the time but your mental Health should be as much of a priority as your physical health. I went to the gym yesterday I ate some really good nutritious food but I also had the best fun with my girls eating and drinking all of this food and enjoyed every minute of it. .

Time out ⏱💆🏻‍♀️ .

Remember when you were a kid and you associated time out as a bad thing? Well I think a lot of us still keep up that association when in reality it’s so important for us. .
.
This week for me has felt a little stressful due to various things and on top of it I have picked up a back injury. 🤦🏻‍♀️ in the past I would have let the stress boil over, I would have pushed through training sessions with an injury and my self care would have gone right out the window.
Now, I’m cutting myself some slack, I’m taking my time to get through my to do list looking at each step at a time and I’m resting from training focusing on my mobility to aid my injury. .
.
This week I’ve swapped 2 training sessions for a body balance class (not that this is an easy class FYI 🙈) and I’ve stayed for the meditation at the end of this class where I would normally shoot out the door. I’m using my @headspace
app at night instead of watching tv or reading to allow my brain some down time too. Now I’m not saying all of this has come easy, sometimes it’s not and I only last 5 minutes of ‘time out’ but it’s small steps that help recharge that battery. .

In a time where we rush around for plug sockets and chargers to charge our phones how about we do the same for ourselves. Take some time out and cut yourself the slack. 💕

Posted this recipe a few months ago and it’s definitely one of my favourites. I doubled up tonight to make more for work tomorrow. Teamed up with sweet potato wedges and spinach, feta and beetroot salad. I also mixed up some fat free Greek yogurt, lemon juice, seasoning and chilli flakes to dip the patties into 🤗😋

I guess it’s easy when you start posting fitness videos and content to wait till it’s perfected or get the perfect shot but I always think it’s good to know everyone has their struggles and frustrations with different types of training. Skipping I have discovered is mine 😑 Another issue I have with skipping... top rides up... trousers fall down 🤦🏻‍♀️ .

When I started to incorporate some boxing training into my programme I wanted to try skipping so today I tried it and I wasn’t great BUT I’m determined to practice practice practice until I can do all that fancy foot work like the pros 😝 .

Today also marks the start of a new programme for me where I want to work on building my strength up and overall fitness. My food is changing up (more fuel) and more rest time. Looking forward to seeing some changes 😎 .

I wondered initially if it was right to post on my fitness account the cocktails and meals out this week and the chocolate bombs, then I remembered it absolutely was. Living a healthy and active lifestyle is something I’m lucky to enjoy but I am now at a place where balance is most important to me.
Mental health is as important as physical health and with that comes enjoying the downtime with your best pals eating all the food and drinking all the martinis 🤩 .
