Last in the Lightbox Upgrade series, for now. I haven't been posting as much here lately because my creative goals are focused where I enjoy telling stories the most: writing over photography. Still, there is overlap. This lightbox has greatly increased the speed at which I can tell stories, because when I set up shots, that helps establish the world quickly. Then I can move into the writing aspect more fluidly, especially if I can upload the photos and immediately start writing like I will in a few minutes.
This photo is character building for "The Story." This project will still take a while to begin but I have lofty goals for it so I'm patient. Here, John [right] has just arrived at Trishna's [left] home. They've chatted for years online and with the occasional phone call. To get on Trishna's service dog Pollyanna's good side, Trishna recommended her favorite treat, but instead she goes to his hand, mostly intact after an incident, and licks it instead.
To be able to set up that shot quickly gives me more time to flesh out the writing. With the lightbox and LEDs, having already thought of the shot composition, it took all of about 10 minutes to set up and shoot? The lightbox is in a permanent spot in my home office anchored on a dresser, so there are even less hindering variables.
