After weeks of caring for the wounded, treating the sick, our chicken coop is becoming full again.
In case you missed it, our previous flock was attacked by what we now presume was a fox since #maggiemaymagpie and I had chased it away on multiple occasions post massacre. A Buff was badly injured on one of those occasions. After weeks of attention, living in our atrium, she is doing a lot better. It’s amazing how resilient chickens are. Shortly after we added replacements via craigslist ads. Our first group was clean and healthy, but our second not so much. Come to find out the seller has a bad reputation for poor living environment for animals (I found out by placing a “do not buy” ad right next to theirs and was contacted by other buyers with botched sales). A few more weeks pass while living in our hospital coop, the sickly are well and have moved into the big coop today.
It’s been some time since an appearance of a fox, catching other small predictors in the meantime, I’m just glad they are all in one coop and can enjoy some of the land again for the time being.
