Today is Thanksgiving, and every year I find myself reflecting on my Native American heritage. Instead of writing the same words everyone will probably write today, I decided to write the name of the tribe I'm descended from, and talk about some things I always doubt myself and then not talk about. I wish I had been more active in learning about Native culture and history when I was younger. Part of me was always very proud to be part Comanche but the other part kinda felt like a fraud haha 😅 I definitely have the facial bone structure and the ability to never really burn in the sun-just get darker, which I attribute to that part of me, and I always used to hate my side profile when I was younger because it wasn't what the cartooning books called "pretty" ... I have the look of old time photos of war chiefs rather than the dainty turned up noses and and dewdrop top lips of "pretty" profiles. But anyway, I've come to embrace that part of me much more as I've gotten older, wishing it was more obvious that I've got Native American blood in my veins. I haven't gotten outside much in the past few years, so I'm especially pale in my own eyes, so I worry talking about it that people will think I'm just faking it. I'm not. I swear. But anyway, I wish I could dive more into my ancestry and be more knowledgeable about that part of me. I think it's important.
Okay we are about to have Thanksgiving dinner now so I'll stop rambling. Have a great day, all!
