Back Day

📝Every day is back day in my book. Here is nice variety of back exercises demo’d by my friend @melissa_hartwig

I think that women sometimes forget about training their back. Pull ups and heavy rows aren’t just for bros. Training your back muscles is not only healthy and protective for the shoulders, it literally influences your entire body shape and posture.

If you want a visually thinner waist, get wider lats. If you want visually thinner and more toned arms, get a wider upper back and rear delts. Physique training is all about proportions.

My last little take home point is that you don’t see a ton of back work in group exercise classes. This is because of space and practical limitations… It’s much easier to get 20 people in a room overhead pressing with a light weight then it is for them to be rowing weight heavy enough to challenge them.

This chronic repetitive light weight overhead pressing and never rowing can lead to shoulder problems, as the workout and training program isn’t well balanced. I’ve seen that so many times with my exercise class junky patients.

Real talk: I would be lying if I said I weren't results-driven. After spending years of trial and error, I've gotten so motivated to become as knowledgeable about fitness as possible and to actually see RESULTS.
No, I don't work out because I hate my body. I just love seeing myself get stronger. I love knowing exactly what I'm doing and guaranteeing an outcome when I put in work. 🤷🏽‍♀️ That's what motivates me to give my 100% every time I workout.
Of course, there are MANY other reasons why I work out and I do believe that there is far more to life than having a good body... but nothing makes me happier and more motivated than knowing I'm in control of my own body and that I can train it lift heavy a$$ iron and transform myself into a freakin machine. 💪🏽

Backkkk n abzzzz baby 🔥
1. standing rope lat pull down-imagine pulling the rope to your 2 side pockets. Keep your arms straight & make sure to squeeze at the bottom!
2. T-bar rows- I do these every back day- make sure your elbows are tucked to your sides and that your elbows get pulled all the way back!! Don't sacrifice form to lift heavy.
3. Seated alternating oblique crunch (literally just made that name up) - I like to have my elbows point to the ground so I can get greater range of motion (mohhh range of motion, mohh muscle tear, ma friends)
4. Kneeling/ rope cable crunch- try both and see which one you prefer 🤗 make sure your pull with your abs and minimize the use of momentum to bring the weight down. -
