I debated whether or not I should post about this for the past five days, but since it still weighs heavy on my heart. The bruising and swelling are nearly gone, which makes me regret not taking a picture earlier.
My son has been #bullied a lot this year. He has been blamed for the poor choices and actions of his once friends. He has been excluded by other kids parents in the neighborhood during trick-or-treating. He has been shoulder checked into the large glass pane window in the classroom by another student. He nearly missed lunch one day because one of the paras made him pick up all the other student's outdoor gear that they had thrown on the floor.
All of this lead me to enroll him in #brazilianjiujitsu and it couldn't have come at a better time! Last week he was outside during recess. He climbed to the top of the snow pile to grab ice to build an ice castle with. A group of boys surrounded him and pushed him down. He #gotbackup and tried to grab the ice again. That's when one of them #punched 👊 my son in the face! It gave him a fat, bruised lip and #bloodynose !
BUT thanks to #bjj and the recent #self defense unit, he was able to use a #legsweep to put the bully on his ass....so that my son could get away. The para at the school did nothing for my son, whose nose was GUSHING! The bullies were not punished, but my son the victim was put into emotional management courses!
I cannot begin to tell you how thankful I am for the tools my son is learning to #protect himself using #bjj as it has become clear to me that his school is not interested in doing so while he is in their care.
We will not be victimized and then villainized all at the same time! I will always support my son when he stands up for himself! #warriors #bjjmom #bjjstrong #antibullyingschoolmyass
