Nah, I didn't do this.... I just appreciate the plates.. I can happily do squats all day instead of leg presses, but they do play their part and have their uses. I feel like I could do this............ if my life depended on it. 😆

Before performing a squat or any other leg exercise we must create a stable base from the foot through the hip muscles and up to the core muscles!
.
A stable base will balance the load on all the joints and bones.
.
The principle is to statically activate the foot muscles in order to maintain the arch, and at the same time to activate the hip rotators by rotating the hip outward, in order to stabilize the knee and the hip, and also to contact the core muscles.
.
How do you do this simply?
You can perform two actions that can activate all the relevant muscles:
☑️ Press the big toe down onto the floor.
☑️ Rotate the hip externally – drive your knee outward, and at the same time push the legs to the sides as if you want to separate them.
.
A short practice of these two actions will give you a very important motor pattern that from now on can serve as a basis for all leg exercises.

Walking Weighted Lunges:

Done this exercise at the end of my leg workout. I always find it a good way to get that final burn in the last push of your workout.

Preferred to do lunges whilst walking as opposed to doing standing alternate lunges. This is because I feel I get a complete full range of movement with the whole motion of going forward whilst switching legs.

It is important to maintain a good posture as you perform this exercise. In doing so your overall balance, and your core stability should improve. Lunges also help with working on your gluteas muscles as well as boosting your hip flexibility.

Leg day completes my little 3 part series of the Push/Pull/Leg split that I wanted to share. Even if you don’t do this split these are some great fundamental movements that will really strengthen your legs. If you’ve been lifting for awhile you’ll know them all but if you’re new to strength training, give them a shot!

The majority of people myself included perform the sl rdl with a dumbbell.

Using the landmine it takes out the stability so you can really focus on strength and the muscles you want to be contracting

I normally will add a 25# plate to this exercise, but I performed heavy deadlifts prior to this so I was just using this to get a good contraction out of the glutes and hamstrings

💡 We all love a glute burn don’t we? Band exercises have become the norm on Instagram. Everyone seems to acting like they are the most important aspect of leg training
.
🔦 Where should they fit in your leg session and should you prioritise them? .
These types of exercises are best in warm ups or accessory exercises. You wouldn’t make an Abductor Machine your primary move so why should band exercises? But they do have a place
.
🕯 You should always prioritise your compound exercises; Squats, Deadlifts and Lunges. They have the greatest potential for overload and will provide the most tension in the muscle, vital for muscle growth
.
💣 Band exercises “burn” due to the localised isolation of the muscle you work, but offer no way near the same kind of tension (as compounds).
“Burn doesn’t always mean Best” .
So, throw them in to the Warm Up to get your Glutes and hips going, or at the end of the session for a good finisher after your legs have already been maxed out
.
👨🏼‍⚕️ If your hips feel “tight” then ALWAYS include them! .
