Dont mind me just over here trying to balance out these quads with some amazing hammies too.

Superset cable rdls (careful with the balance, I found holding the handle with both hands helped) with modified GHD ham raises.

I used the lat pull down seat and made sure the catch was on the lowest placing to make sure my legs stayed sercure the whole time.
8 reps each leg of the cable movement and as many as possible of the ham raises.

Squat tip: Avoid the butt wink!!

The final tip of this squat series is to avoid the butt wink during a squat! I touched on this briefly but I wanted to go into more detail owing to the importance!

This is probably the most common fault I see with a squat in the gym and one of the easiest to correct. Lots of people buy into the 'ass to grass' squats and think that their squat is great because it's really 'deep' but actually they are allowing themselves to drop into butt wink or posterior pelvic tilt and showing they can't control the movement.

Squats can be deep and actually should be as deep as they can be, whilst holding a neutral spine and pelvis position. Allowing the hips to tuck under and enter posterior pelvic tilt places excessive forces through the lumbar spine, which could potentially lead to long term issues and injury in the lower back, especially when under high load. No one wants lower back pain or herniated disks! Remember you might not feel these effects initially but we need to keep the future in mind!

Research has indicated that there is slightly greater glute recruitment in a deeper than parallel squat, but if you can't safely squat below parallel there are many other exercises that target the glutes instead - for example a hip thrust.

If you find yourself dropping into butt wink check out my earlier video on methods of correcting or simply just reduce the range. Long term, improving ankle mobility may help increase the depth you can achieve but unfortunately for some of us it's down to our anatomy and that we can't change! Also be conscious to not be into too much of a anterior pelvic tilt as this is also fairly comprising, contrary to popular belief!
