Taking a break from crawling to talk about a little controversial topic - floor seating! There's a lot of back and forth about this in the physio world, but here's my take: a floor seat is totally fine for those few minutes that you need to reheat that cup of coffee ☕️, grab a snack 🥐🍕🍔🍪 and have a bit of a break. If you've got a tray like R does here, it's a great place to start to work on some fine motor skills. I also actually encourage my kiddos with #plagiocephaly or #flathead to spend some time in the floor seat to relieve the time spent on their back when they need a break from #tummytime. All that said, it is not a substitute for practicing independent sitting! There's too much support here for baby 👶 to get to practice using the muscles they need to promote trunk control and balance. So as long as you're practicing that tripod sitting as well, by all means use the floor seat from time to time! Especially if your babe needs to work on their head shape. But don't use it as a replacement for practicing that sitting #milestone.
