Getting there.... Slowly slowly I am making progress with #pinchamayurasana and getting a hold of about ten seconds now!!! Yay!! I now need to learn to get up there without the use of #paulthewall providing help and, crucially, moral support.
This is the main disadvantage of learning something against a wall - it’s hard to wean yourself off it. So generally I prefer to learn without it and just learn how to fall safely as part of the learning process. So with headstand and handstand I can happily achieve or attempt in the middle of the room, safe in the knowledge that I’ll not do myself any damage in the process. With #pincha I have fallen out awkwardly a few times and hurt my neck (on a @cyogalab challenge last summer) so I’m pretty nervous of moving away. But facing fears and overcoming them is part of the fun of yoga.
