Late post but, 7 years with this moose on June 27th. "Sometimes there were bonds between horse and man far greater than money."
-The Eighty Dollar Champion
The above quote is precisely why I could never sell her. To all the people who told me she would kill me, or told me to "give her away", I am so thankful I was told those words, otherwise I never would have been so determined to turn her into the horse I knew she was meant to be. She has had her moments, but she is a saint, I trust her more than any horse I've ever worked with. No amount of money has ever been able to convince me to sell her, or even consider the option.
I could not be more proud of what we have both accomplished in this time. She truly helped me get over my fears in the saddle, she brought me back from injuries I was not supposed to walk away from - physically, as well as mentally. Over the past year it has been my turn to be there for her for her injuries. I had a number of people ask me if I "wished I would have sold her while I had the chance"; and the answer to that is a definite "no". I don't ever wish for a second that I would have sold her, never in my dreams. She has been the best horse I could hope for, my confidence builder, an accomplished show ring champion ... my "unicorn". She is truly a once in a lifetime horse, and for that I am beyond thankful. ❤️🐎❤️
