Mantra of the Week: Self Love, for better or for worse, you are worth it 🌻
I was watching a ted talk yesterday and the way the women describe loving herself really resonated with me. She said that self love is like marrying yourself, you love yourself for better or for worse, in sickness and in health. It is a daily commitment moment to moment. It isn't easy but you are worth it. The relationship you have with yourself is a lot like marriage. That really stuck out to me because it made me think, how would you react to a spouse if they were sick? How would you react if they lost their job? Would you stop loving them because of how they looked? Lust is different from love, Love is paying attention to how they make you feel in that moment. How do you speak with them? It isn't easy but it can grow deeper in time. It is kind of ironic considering this stuck out to me so much and yet I have never been in love before but I learned at a young age the most important relationship is the one you have with yourself. You can't even begin to love someone else if you don't love yourself first. It is a journey you can go alongside someone with, but it is only with yourself. Idk what it was but just viewing from an omicient perspective that you have a relationship like marriage, just like any other but with yourself. Like Love is, pay attention to how you make yourself feel. What language do you use, do you understand and communicate how you feel (self awareness)? Are you kind and patient and loving or is it toxic and abusive? It doesn't involve anyone else and you don't need permission to feel however you do, but you do have a responsibility in treating yourself with respect and encouraging yourself. Repeat; For Better or For worse, I am fucking worth it 🙂💕 .
