A women in our ward gave a wonderful talk on prayer that I keep thinking about. She told a story about a women who had a crazy day taking care of her family and feeling like nothing went smoothly. That evening, before she crawled into bed she said a quick prayer thanking her Father in Heaven for all of her blessings. After getting back into bed for a couple of minutes, she rolled back down to her knees and truly prayed. She poured out her heart and explained how frustrated she was about her day. She actually prayed that night, instead of simply just offering a prayer.
This story made me really think about my prayers. Of course Heavenly Father already knows how we feel and what we go through. But He wants us to talk to Him. He wants us to know that He is there and that He will help us as we face hardships and challenges (even if that hardship is burning the dinner that night). So, do you REALLY pray? Or do you offer a prayer?
Let us all strive to experience the POWER of prayer rather than the ROUTINE of prayer.
