I am a female lawyer from a remote village in North Sumatera (one of the provinces in my country), a village where the customary law is stronger than state law. I am also the first and only law scholar in my family. When I was a child, I never thought of going to be a lawyer or never dreamed of becoming a lawyer. According to my parents and siblings, when I was a child I like to teach children under my age, like a teacher. Yes, at the time my ambition was to become a lecturer. I was just interested in the law when I was in high school and slowly the ambition of being a lecturer was lost. But at the time, the lawyer was not my ambition, but want to be a judge. My father supported me when I told him that I wanted to go to law school. However, before I entered law school, he left us forever. He passed away when I was in high school. I graduated from Faculty of Law of University of North Sumatera. I was not a smart girl at college, but I was not also a person who only learn from lecturers in the classroom. I joined in a study group and also joined in Moot Court Community. I participated in the nasional moot court community, and had been a coach in this community. After graduation, I was apprenticed in the law office, passed the bar exam and got sworn, until became a lawyer and established my own law office (@yplawoffice). In my country, very few number of famous female lawyers, many people assume that women are not strong enough and dare to become a lawyer. I want to break the assumption, I will prove that women can, I can. At the end I love this profession not because this is my ambition. My love grows from day to day. Yeah, sometimes we have to go through it first so we know whether it is our passion or not. Today, my goal is to become a successful lawyer. Success for me is when I can live independently and can meet my needs without burdening others, I can help many people and my knowledge can be useful for others. Being famous is just a bonus or additional reward.
