Communication skills can make for a good experience – or a forgettable one.
Never is this truer than in the world of real estate.
I’ve been in this industry for some 12 years now and fortunately realized, fairly early on, that this is a people business, not a property business.
It is about the people who move into the property and move out again.
It’s about building relationships with people.
It’s about doing less talking and doing more listening if we’re to truly understand a client’s wants and concerns.
It’s all too easy to fall into the trap of thinking that the slicker the presentation, the better the closing technique, or trying to impress with knowledge and stats, that makes the difference.
We need to take the time to listen and really understand our clients’ circumstances, their fears or concerns; we need to make the effort to get to know about their goals if we’re to support them in their desired outcome. ~
Making and taking the time and care to ask questions and really listen is key. It creates clarity and understanding that creates connection and helps us to offer tailored solutions.
Poor communication from real estate agents is one of the biggest frustrations for people who are buying or selling property.
We’re in a people business and the way we communicate has a big impact.
Truth is, people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
It’s about putting your client first.
