A Hermit Thrush spotted along the riverbank at Dingman Creek ESA. The Hermit Thrush's song has been described as "the finest sound in nature" and is ethereal and flute-like, consisting of a beginning note, then several descending musical phrases in a minor key, repeated at different pitches. 🎶Taken 10/21, Dingman Creek ESA
Another first for me... the Golden-crowned kinglet! A good look can require patience, as most of the time they spend their days high up in dense spruce or fir foliage. They are barely larger than a Hummingbird and can survive -40 degree nights. Taken 10/21, Sharon Creek Conservation Area
I'm so excited! What a day (saw 5 new bird species to add to my list). My hopes of seeing an Eastern Bluebird finally happened! These bluebirds were travelling together and really tested my patience to capture this shot. First, but not my last, trip to Sharon Creek! Taken 10/21
FANTASTIC, fun, informative and inspirational morning walking round gardens 🌳🌿great & small in and around Brixton earlier. Am blown away by them all, really.... Starting at Papa's Park community cafe we visited 🌸🌱 @urbangrowthlondon#popfarm and #BrixtonOrchard then we got a tour of the beautiful 200-year-old windmill @brixmill 🍞and tasted the flour (which you can buy from @fmondayscoffee - see pic -makes great 🍕), we smelled incredible herbs & sweet 🌶peppers on Tulse Hill Estate, and finally walked round the 🔉phenomenal 🔉@brockwell_greenhouses in the park. Stay tuned for updates from @edible_lambeth in the coming months... looking forward to inviting you all 🔜...
