I was sad to say goodbye to the Lake District but am glad to be back in my own little part of England. I took this on my first day in the Lake District as a storm was moving in over the Fells. Needless to say I got wet shortly after this picture was taken. I was really struck by how thick the cloud cover was and how the fells in the distance were perfectly lit by what little sun there was left. I just love the hue everything takes on right before a storm. I was out for a walk today when I heard thunder and saw lightning. It dawned on me that in the two years I have lived in England, I have only heard thunder 3 or 4 times. I looked it up and indeed the area I am in gets remarkably little thunderstorm activity. This is a huge contrast to my time in the USA 🇺🇸 where the last two states I lived in were #1 and #5 for lightning strikes in America. I didn't realize how much I would miss thunder storms 🌩 but I miss them tremendously! I love them. ❤️❤️❤️Sitting and watching storms on my back porch was one of my favorite ways to spend time in the states.
