PERI CARE

_ _

after a vaginal delivery, caring for your bottom is a holy act. without over sharing all the intimate details, let’s just say I have been so grateful to have these gems on hand (more on how I used them during labor at a later time)
_
mamas, this recipe has been a godsend for #postpartum recovery. first, throw one aloe leaf into the blender with a few tablespoons of coconut oil and a splash of water. once liquified, strain the access aloe pulp and add 5 drops of each oil.next, pour a little bit of the mixture onto a pad and throw pads into the freeze for an uber cooling and soothing #padscicle. you can also combine all ingredients into a spray bottle and simply spray your bottom every time you go to the washroom or even apply topically to your lower abdomen for uterine love.
_

FRANK for anti-septic and anti-inflammatory support to speed the healing process

MELALEUCA to cleanse and purify while encouraging tissue regeneration

LAVENDER to calm and restore

GERANIUM for tissue repair and hormonal balance
HELICHRYSUM for anti-bacterial, blood cleansing and pain relief
ROMAN CHAMOMILE to alleviate discomfort and soothe skin

Looking forward to reading this. Maybe I’ll find time over the Easter break. Ostara blessings everyone!

Homegrown Lemon Balm and Organic Chamomile ease and uplift the spirit, Organic Skullcap nourishes our nervous system, wild-crafted Elderflowers stimulate circulation and reduce water retention, and Organic Rosehips offer a gentle loving energy while providing many of the nutrients we need during our monthly bleed. Happy mothers day to all the wonderful mum's out there ♡
After being told I wasn't producing progesterone I literally thought shit I'll never be a mother.. I took it super hard but I vowed to understand why and get to the route of the problem not just take medication to mask the problem and put more chemicals through my body. I decided to go au naturale and go on a journey of self discovery and understand the lady landscape. So first was to understand the hormonal imbalance and learn about the unspoken word... periods... (oh the shame) 😂 I found out stress was the number 1 leading cause of low progesterone levels and low progesterone can lead to infertility. Also being on synthetic hormones in the way of contraception since a young age can really mess your body in so many ways. That combined with my eating issues, the stress I was under and messing around with contraception my body turned of my ovulation system.
I now totally see it as protection. Protecting me from conceiving and possibly bringing a baby here with all that was happening in my world. See the body is super clever when we listen and trust our body it literally has all the answers we need if we just stop listen and look at the lesson it's teaching us and focusing on the positive, we can turn it around. I'm now super excited to learn more about my body and be a mummy in the future I believe if you can turn something of then you can turn it back on. That with a good knowledge of food and nutrition, herbs and vitamins thanks to my health coach I feel I am armed with the information to create a healthy space for a future baby. How exciting.
So happy mothers day to all the mummys and inspiring mummys out there and if my story is anything like yours just know there is hope ♡ .

Here we go - this could get messy #happysaturday #relax #reading #tea #lisalister #ladylandscape

I used to dread my periods.
I’d curse them. I’d curse my body and “that time”. I would curse how I felt before and during.
I just behaved how women around me had always behaved, thinking that this time of the month was exactly that, a curse!
The book “Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom” fell into my hands, the wise bible that every young girl should be given, the book by the amazing @drchristianenorthrup
Then everything changed.
A little later, I also discovered the work of @sassylisalister (Lisa has 3 books called Red Code and Love Your Lady Landscape and Witch)
I learned how this false belief of hating on my body was detrimental to by mental, emotional AND even physical health! The way we choose to think about our bodies effects our cells and our whole biology!
I started to switch it around and notice the fucking amazing stuff my body did, the cycles of nature and how to work with them and how they actually work for us. One of the things I stopped doing around two years ago, was putting toxic, non-eco friendly plastic tampons in this sacred place. Instead I have a Moon Cup and these funky pads. At first I was a bit “eeeeeeew”, and this was also the reaction of certain ones around me. (Those people too scared to change and so they make excuses why not to do something!) But it felt right to be able to treat my body better at this blessed time of the month when we actually need more nurturing and stillness than any other time. I have now found my system each month, do what works for me and now embrace it when this time comes around as I know how my mind and body works specifically around this time. It’s so incredible.
Have you made the switch yet?
Your body will thank you for it! ❤️🙂

(I would head over to a website called Honour Your Flow and have a read up there. They have starter packs with wash bags etc... but now I am trying various pads and the above are from eBay from @clothmamauk 💙🍭🌈🌟 There is also a Facebook group called The Bloody Waste!) •

How can I really ever explain to Mamas how much of Birth is about surrender. Not surrender of your power or vision but of your own mind. In general, we’re filled with such negative stories and feelings about the birth experience. We go into it with a fear based preconception. What if instead, we were told that Birth was orgasmic, empowering, sensual and a magical surrender in the best way?! How would that change our inner dialogue? When we get in the way and let our heads take over, we begin to experience “pain” vs. “pleasure”. And I’ve seen those pleasurable births. Yes it’s possible Mamas. Why do you think second babies usually come with greater ease? Yes your body has paved the way, but you are also confident IN your body. You know you can do it. And you know it can be different

Ladies I have made a group on Facebook for likeminded women. A special safe space where you have permission to be totally YOU without fear, judgement, or intimidation.
This group will form your online sisters who are always there for you, we have your back and we can learn and grow together.
We can talk about periods, menopause, partners, children, loneliness, guilt, sexual desires, feelings, getting back to natural ways of being, creativity, expressing ourselves in anyway we choose, totally open and honest, speaking the truth we wish we dare say out loud.
Please feel free to pop over and join if you feel called to do so (link in bio)
I would love to have you there sharing your wisdom.

This is a watercolour piece of art I finished late last night, a lady flower, it brought up a lot of thoughts and feelings as I painted it. And has opened up much conversation with my partner and one of my sons today.

Let’s talk about moontime and what I do during it, the natural way. This may be so far out your comfort zone, you may be used to paracetamol and tampax but hear me out. Since switching to a natural way of embracing my moontime (period/menstruation) it is so much more healthier for my body and the planet. My mood swings are minimal and I feel better connected to my body. I do still feel pain, a lot of pain sometimes and my blood flow is very heavy for the first two days. But this moontime balm from @nurturing_soul is amazing at easing my back ache and cramps, peppermint oil for headaches, magnesium supplement for tension and headaches, motherwort tincture for pms, handmade fabric pads which are washable and don’t make me sweat, they also have no plastic in. Raspberry leaf tea for cramps and I’ve just gifted myself this book which I’m excited to read. As much rest as possible on the first two days helps too.
