Wolverine: Old Man Logan Vol. 2: Bordertown
This is a another superb volume - made so particularly by the quality of the art, by the artist who (re)introduced the character in the Warzones volume (Wolverine: Old Man Logan Volume 0: Warzones). Here, Logan goes looking for his late wife, and finds her, in Canada. We also get a number of flashbacks to fill-out the backstory of what happened between the villains’ uprising and the beginning of the original Old Man Logan story.
All this is expertly interwoven with the goings-on in Canada, where Lady Deathstrike and the Reavers have come looking for revenge on Logan; and as far as they are concerned, any Logan will do. The Uncanny X-Men issue features the origin of the cyborg Lady Deathstrike and the first Reavers.
Have you noticed that it doesn’t matter how many people a villain kills, they only have to look at someone’s dog and you know they are dead men walking.
The last issue in the book, which finds Logan back at the school, sees Jean (junior) taking the insomniac Logan on a trip to visit the sites that played a big part in the villains’ uprising, to show him that A) it is not happening this night, and B) this is probably a different timeline anyway, so he doesn’t have to worry about it (though he’s still got his little list from last volume…), and this time, he’s got a Phoenix backing him up.
It is amazing how Marvel have taken a character that had really been drained of all meaning overt the past thirty or forty years, and reinvigorate him so much. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (out of 5) #logan #wolverine #reedsreads #marvel #avengers #xmen #pheonix #ladydeathstrike
