Your posture may not seem like a big deal now, but there are many long term effects that will catch up with you. Do your best to deal with it NOW rather than later and prevent these things from happening 👍🏼
My shoulders have the tendency to roll forward which is super common because almost everything we do is in front of us— this causes the shoulders to roll forward and creates a postural deviation called kyphosis (which we don’t want for the above reasons 🙅🏽)
It’s important to do what you can to reverse the effects of sitting, texting, typing, reading, driving, etc 👩🏽‍💻
Here are some tips:
•If you sit at a desk all day, take 5 min breaks throughout your shift to stretch and walk around 🚶🏼‍♀️🚶🏼
•Increase your overall daily activity! Go for walks, find a new hobby, attend new classes 🤸🏽‍♀️🏸🚴🏻‍♀️🏊🏼‍♀️
•Do stretches to open your chest as often as you can. These include rolling your shoulders back & clasping your hands 👐🏼 behind your back, or standing in a doorway with hands on either side, leaning forward.
•Workout your back!!! Doing exercises such as face-pulls and rows strengthen the back muscles responsible for pulling your shoulders back. These also stretch out the pec muscles, which are tight if you have this problem.
✨These will make a huge difference if you do them consistently!✨
