At only 6 months old, Alois isn’t quite on the tractor yet but he might well be the next generation to look after the Koppitsch’s vineyards in a few decades! After training with Gerhard Pittnauer, Alex took his dad’s estate over in 2011 and was joined by his wife Maria and their boys. The family has been producing wine in Neusiedl am See for generations, farming organically and using little to no sulfur for as long as they can remember. As Maria says “We like to say that Koppitsch stands for clean and vibrant natural wines, and... nothing else.” A trained winemaker, Alex knows what clean wine stands for and he would surely never bottle a bad or faulty wine for the sake of producing something ‘natural’. The Koppitsch’s approach does pay off and their wines are crisp, lean, with stunning minerality only spring water can top; the noses are inviting, rich and complex and the wines then strike you with their freshness and chuggability!
