It’s pretty funny to me when people who wear knee sleeves say that their knee sleeves don’t help much. They say they’re mostly for “keeping my knees warm.” #
My question is why would you spend $90 on SBDs to keep your knees warm? Why not just wear compression pants or sweatpants to the gym? I think people don’t want to think that gear helps them much.
The truth is that they help you lift more weight. It varies with everyone I’m sure (whether psychologically or not), but usually, 5-10 more pounds, and maybe a higher % as someone becomes more advanced. For me they help me “bounce” out of the hole, for lack of a better word. They help accumulate more volume in the long run, and they can potentially help avoid injury. BUT, I would not buy them to avoid injury or because of an injury, you’re way better off dropping weight off the bar and fixing your form before trying a quick fix. Just my 2 cents.
