Free of my brace and in my happy place. Taking my rehab seriously and following my programme to slowly start recruiting muscles that have been immobilised for almost 2months. Exercises I used to take for granted I.e. squats, lunges etc seem worlds away for me as I struggle to find my full ROM (range of motion). .

My surgeon has given me a 6wk target to have a 90degree bend and walking. He quickly followed up with its near impossible in that time frame but the challenge is on and those who know me, know I love a challenge. The commercial gym (or gym that you sit down on a machine to complete your exercises) is contradictory. .
Why? Most of us sit down too much as it is...we wake up and then sit down breakfast, sit to drive to work, sit at work, sit at lunch, sit driving home, sit to watch tv, sit to have dinner, so why oh why sit at the gym?! .
Why are gyms like this? Because you the user need no skills to perform them and that makes it easy for gyms to make you feel comfortable and safe. It’s also from the 70/80s body building culture that plagues those just wanting fitness, to look good and feel good. It’s totally the industry’s fault. .
The exercise should be your place to move differently, take side steps, rotate, control your body itself and not have a seat do the effort for you.

Terminal knee extension:
🔹Place a thick stretchy band behind your knee and step back with the opposite knee in front
🔹Start with the knee bent and light tension on the band
🔹Straighten your back knee completely. There should be moderate resistance in the band now
🔹SLOWLY release the tension by bending your knee and returning to the start position
🔹Repeat for 2 sets of 10 or until you feel a good burn in your quad🔥

Video 3 of #dailyREHAB number 42 on fixing knee alignment: this time it’s the bar RDL (Romanian deadlift) using the band but this time it goes between the legs going slightly behind. Be careful on the setup as I show it. Again this is a bit advanced from simple glute activation and simply trying to improve knee position. The resistance of the band helps you internally with feedback messaging on position, as well as visually, using a mirror, plus the added benefit of strengthening the hip from the resistance load of the band. Don’t make the load too heavy so you can focus on form in the deadlift for one, and knee alignment second. This is great for people who find they weight shift and / or have a knee rolling or collapsing in when they lift.
