💙 Transformation 💙
I was asked to provide some ‘before and after’ photos this week for an upcoming event, something that they think perhaps represents my ‘journey’ to inspire others. This isn’t a weight loss competition and we aren’t trying to be better performers. We are trying to be better people. I can’t show you a photo of how I transformed and continue to transform through yoga, how it has taught me more compassion, more self acceptance. There are no before and after photos of that. What’s my favourite pose too? ‘Yoga’ is my favourite pose, not to the inclusion or exclusion of any of it. I practice it all as that which is a challenge is there to make me grow and equally, that which I enjoy more is still there to make me grow, in other ways. That’s the thing with trying to portray a spiritual practice in images; I can’t show you what’s happening inside. I try to tell you with my words, the words which come from my heart. I can’t show you a photo of my most memorable moment on the mat - perhaps it was when I first cried in my yoga practice because my experience touched me on a profoundly deep level (thank you for awakening that @lizterryyoga) - perhaps it was the feeling of refuge I felt on my mat after losing my mum - maybe it was the first time I was able to find the courage to chant om to my students.... But no, I don’t have photos of any of that.
