So, I feel sort of unsettled about recording myself learning to play harmonium, singing out loud and sharing that online. But I keep thinking about a class I went to with @danatrixieflynn at @wanderlustfest called "Creating Community" (totally my jam...). She led us through some partner practices and then we gathered in a circle to do a sort of kirtan, call and response chanting. She started by saying something like, "I've never thought I had a good voice, but for some reason when I play this wooden box, I just wanna sing and chant." I love that attitude and so connected with her "let's just have fun and go for it" vibe in that moment. After class last week, I kept thinking of that class. So, I just played....
I also wanted to share this idea of learning because I'm really excited to announce that this upcoming week will be my last week teaching so regularly for a while. Although I love love love teaching, I'm really looking forward to taking some time and being more of a student for a while. Starting June 1, I will only be teaching Weds evenings regularly (but some outside classes and monthly special events are in the works!). I'm so looking forward to being in classes WITH everyone and growing my own practice in away that I haven't since I first started teaching. See you on the mat ;)
